The mission of the LuEsther T. Mertz Retinal Research Center is to ensure the highest quality of care for sufferers of retinal disorders.

With that goal in mind, the center is involved in a number of efforts that span the spectrum of research, educational programs and outreach/public awareness efforts.

The center is located at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and is under the directorship of Dr. Lawrence Yanuzzi. Funding for the center is provided by The Macula Foundation, Inc. and study grants.
